Hey, all you necrofowliacs! Welcome to the next installment of this “Dead Duck” episode, “A MINION OF DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY”! Here’s your trivia fix:
- Another example of a page that I think came together extremely well, from the layout, to character design, to flow of action. Even though I did an entirely wordless story in “Day’s End”, I feel this page may be my best usage of wordless storytelling within “Dead Duck”.
- Though I had no specific frame of reference for what I came to refer to as the “sleeping bagging” of Aggie Onionskin, as I drew her wrinkled and rumpled form in the last two panels, I kept thinking of the work of macabre cartoonist Gahan Wilson (one of my heroes), who occasionally drew mutilated characters left looking baggy and folded in a similar fashion as this.
- After Aggie Onionskin, the dapper fellow stepping out of her mangled body is probably my second favorite one-off character design that I did in “Dead Duck”. More about him on the pages to come.
See you on the next page!
