Hey, all you necrofowliacs! Welcome to the next installment of this “Dead Duck” episode, “AIN’T NO CURE FOR A SUMMERTIME BRUISE!” Here’s your trivia fix:
- Ach Und Himmel=”Oh and the sky”. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but I’d heard to used as an exclamation in many German-themed productions, and it seemed fitting for Adolph to spout out.
- Seriously, could they give vampires a few more weaknesses? For such majestic, powerful monsters, they sure have their share of Achilles’ heels.
- I really like the sequence of panels leading up to Dracula’s death. Sure, having a hole burned through you should be this horrible, traumatic situation. But I thought of this scene like two kids fighting, and one kid gets his shirt ruined (and boy, did he ever), and suddenly, he’s at a loss for words. Fighting isn’t going to fix his shirt, and he’s gonna hear it from his mom. So the best he can come up with is “You suck.” That’s a genuine moment, and it’s nice to slip those into a fantasy world like Dead Duck’s from time to time.
- That rain on the windows was a real bitch to do. I’d already drawn in the scene, scanned it, colored it and had it on my harddrive. Then I decided the window panes needed to be spattered with rain. Sigh. With my (at the time) minimal Photoshop expertise, it was no small feat drawing that rain to size and placing it in each little pane. These days it would be a breeze. but then, it positively sucked. Hope you appreciate it.
See you on the next page!
