Photography has been my hobby for years, so it seemed logical to actually take a class in it.  This was the first "serious" photo I attempted to take for the class.  I was so inept that I couldn't figure out the automatic timer for the camera, so I had to set up the shot and have my cousin Emily click the shutter.  (My mom's bathroom, Saginaw 1999)
