The Mystery of Edwin Drood (2004): After I drew the poster for "The Balcony Scene", the director of CMU's musicals took note of my work and decided she wanted me for her show's posters. This one was my first for her, and probably my best ("A Little Night Music" was my second). Since the show took place at the turn of the century, I tried to maintain a cartooning style that was reflective of the times. I drew the cast in what I call a Tim Burton style, which is very scribbly and chaotic, which I felt would suit the overall tone and theme of the show. I then used watercolor to complete the effect. I had to draw the cast before their looks and costumes in the show were established, so I did research on costumes of the day and came up with my own designs. They ended up being surprisingly close to what the director would eventually have the cast looking like. Created in Micron Pigma marker, Sharpee marker, watercolor and Photoshop.
