The title Mother's Goofs was conceived by a Hooter's waitress in 2001.  Oddly appropriate, and very telling of ideals the strip would embody in its 3 1/2 year run.  Mother's Goofs is a brash and bawdy parody of fairytales, drawing inspiration from such sources as Ralph Bakshi (director of Fritz the Cat), Vaughn Bode (cartoonist of Cheech Wizard) and Jay Ward (producer of Fractured Fairytales).  It takes place in Fairytale land, and revolves around a core group of semi-familiar characters:

The Krazybread man: The hella naughty, illegitimate half brother of the Gingerbread Man, as well as the steady boyfriend of Snow White.  TRIVIA: Originally supposed to be the Gingerbread Man until those dinks who made Shrek beat me to the punch.

Snow White: Misrepresented in the storybooks as a prissy white chick, Snow White is the frustrated black girlfriend of the Krazybread Man.  TRIVIA: Was originally modeled after singer Ani DiFranco, then later remodled as a composite of Beyonce' Knowles and my friend, Mary.

Hump: Of falling off the wall fame, Hump is the neurotic buddy of Krazy, partner of FTBI agent Raven and boyfriend of the Coyote Ugly Duckling.  TRIVIA: Mother's Goofs was originally created for the sole purpose of having a character named Hump, who was also the first character created for the comic.

Moony: The lactose intolerant, stoner lesbian buddy of Krazy and Hump.  TRIVIA: Moony was originally a boy, until readers pointed out that cows are girls.  Rather than change Moony's sexual preference, I made him a lesbian.

Raven: Hump's partner in the Fairytale land Bureau of Investigation.  TRIVIA: Raven's modeled after my beloved wife, Laura.

The Coyote Ugly Duckling: A little duckling with a paper bag on her head, Coyote is the sweetest character in the strip and Hump's love interest.  TRIVIA: The character was inspired by the movie "Coyote Ugly".

Hokum: A brash and ballsy witch who delights in tormenting people and making out with Moony.  TRIVIA: Hokum was originally a character in the first and third versions of my "Epic of Cholly" comic strip, as well as being a villain in my comic "Stoutheart and Cholly".
