Keira Knightley (2007): Yet another painstaking trial-and-error caricature.  Earlier in 2006 I labored over what I felt was an accurate caricature of Knightley, and posted it on my blog.  But for some reason, it never felt just right to me.  On and off for months I sketched new versions, never to my satisfaction.  I’d always wanted to incorporate the “Pirates of the Caribbean” aspect of her career into the drawing, but figured if I couldn’t get her look down then there was no point in trying.  Finally, in a fit, I drew an oval, chiseled away at it with my pencil, and finally came up with what I felt was her definitive look: Heavy jutting jaw, Tiny grin perched high on her face, a slight nose barely worth giving serious detail, smiling eyes and thick dark eyebrows.  Throw in the pirate theme and I made my definitive Keira Knightley caricature a reality.  I just wish I knew how to pull this sort of accuracy in a timelier manner.  Draw In Micron Pigma Brush marker and colored in Photoshop.
